Remove VTK plotting backend

Prof Garth Wells created an issue

It has been agreed for some time to remove the VTK plotting backend in favour of plotting via Matplotlib and a Javascript/WebGL backend, e.g. X3DOM or VTK-JS (https://kitware.github.io/vtk-js/).
