Playing bad with two computers?

I do not have a good statistic yet, but I started playing on kgs two days ago with two computers and MPI 100000 playouts/move. It seemed to play quite bad, than at 13 Sep 8:00 MEZ I changed to using only one computer with the same setting and it seemed to improve quite a lot.

Therefore I wonder, what might be the reason. My MPI setting is param mpi_update_period 0.5

all others are standard.

How much weaker would you expect the distributed version to play?!
