How does "URL handover" work?

I could'nt find any documentation for the URL handover feature in the documentation. What exactly is that for and how does it work?

What do you mean with "URL handover"?

In the plugin you can set the displaymode and there you can select between URL handover enabled or disabled (see screenshot)

When URL handover is enabled you could setup an plugin that by default shows the selected album, but can display any other album when an album id is given in the url.

For instance when you have a structure where list and detail are 2 different pages.
