Content Rating - PreMPAA Ratings

Issue #145 on hold

Would it be possible to have a content rating added to allow usage of the "Motion Picture Production Code"? This was more commonly known as the "Hays Code". It could just be "MPPC Approved".

When dealing with films prior to 1968, this would be extremely useful. Currently, I need to log them as "Not Rated". However, some modern films are designated as "Not Rated" and others are designated as "Unrated". Since not all modern "Not Rated" films are not appropriate for all audiences, it makes it difficult to handle these older films.

Sorry about the long delay on this. I've been searching through the iTunes store, and they seem to list the films as both "Not Rated" and "Unrated". Examples of these are "The Magnificent Seven" (1960) and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" respectively. I can't find a good reason as to why one is used vice the other. The last time I checked the MPAA website (which has since been redone), there was no difference between the two designations, because they aren't official ratings.

In an ideal world, I'd love to see two ratings added: "Approved" for films that were approved by the MPPC, and "Pre-MPPC" for films that predate the MPPC. I realize that since iTunes doesn't support these, we probably won't see them added. Would it be possible to allow us to manually type in values?
