Merging (or muxing) two tracks from two files to one new MP4 file problem

Issue #193 closed
Former user created an issue

Probably the same error as in Issue #191.

Process: Trying to merge two tracks into one MP4 file — video and audio (downloaded from youtube). Passthrough everywhere, no converting, just merging. No edits, no additions, no other options selected. After "Save as..." I'm giving another name to file. No 64 options chosen. And I'm getting corrupted file, not playable by QuickTime at all. No errors in Subler's Message Log.

Subler doesn't support fragmented mp4 files, one trick is to rename the files from youtube to .mov, create a new document in Subler and import both files.

@galad87 What do you mean by fragmented mp4 files? Both files were downloaded normally, from youtube.com with help of savefrom.net website.

And yes, renaming to .mov, then creating "New" document, then adding files to the document works. That's just strange to me...

The mp4 file format is based on an internal standard (IEEE 14996-12), and each years they add new features. "Fragmented mp4" is a new way to write the mp4 file to make it easier to stream it and more crash resistant. Subler can't handle it at all. The next version will just ask you to import it to a new file directly.
