Image Preview not showing up on Apple TV 3.

Issue #2 resolved
Former user created an issue

"Create Preview Images" option checked under Preferences. However the preview images are not showing up in Apple TV. Only chapters titles are displayed. In previous version (0.25) a image track is created when this option checked. In 0.26 beta, this track is no longer present. Although I can attest that preview images ARE in fact created, because by using OS X quick view on the m4v, preview chapter images do show up. But just not in Apple TV. Something must be broken because it is working perfectly fine in 0.25.

Reverting back to 0.25 until this bug is resolved.

QuickTime on OS X creates the previews automatically if they aren't already in the file. So it looks like a case of Subler failing to create the previews. Do you see a jpeg track in Subler?

Hi sorry, just created an account here to reply. I'm the thread starter.

No, there isn't a jpeg track created. It seemed strange to me in the beginning, but I just assumed 0.26 beta just hide the jpeg track to keep people from messing with it. Now I realize it could be a bug afterall.

Do you have a small file I can test? I tried some with some movies on my Mac and it seems to work.

I don't think the issue is with the video files, but rather due to some other factors. All m4vs I've created with the beta don't have the jpeg track. With 0.25, everything just works.

Tested on a nMP and Macbook Air. 0.26 beta installed over existing 0.25. Running OSX 10.9.4.

Can you guide me for a full uninstallation of Subler (including all the preference files) so that I can test with a clean install instead?

    you can run

    defaults remove org.galad.Subler

in the Terminal to remove the Subler preferences.

Btw if you can describe your entire workflow I can try to reproduce the issue.

Just to comment on this problem a bit...

Just installed the 0.28 update, and it seems that the lack of preview image is due to the m4v not being optimized when being sent to the queue, since Subler will create the preview image when it performs optimization.

I know that the "Optimize" option is enabled by default in the queue, however the m4v isn't being optimized at all even with this setting enable. I received this in the message log "Warning: ReadChildAtoms: "/Users/xxxx/xxxxxx/xx/ABC.m4v": In atom moov missing child atom trak". I was trying to remux a mkv into m4v.

Sending the created m4v back into the queue doesn't get it optimized either and no preview images created.

HOWEVER, if I manually optimize the m4v, it will be optimized and the preview images will be created.

Can you check if you are getting the same problem with movies in the queue not getting optimized from the queue? AFAIK, no movies are being optimized, while everything works fine in 0.25.

    Thanks.

    BTW: running OS X 10.10.
