DTS to AC3 Conversion
This is the single biggest feature Subler is missing for me. Currently I have to convert files with a DTS track using FFmpeg, then open them in Subler, making the process much longer and more complicated. If the "Passthru + AAC" option were replaced with an "AC3 + AAC" option for DTS tracks, that would be perfect, since it would remove an option that creates an invalid file (MP4 with DTS), and wouldn't make the application overly complicated.

reporter Interesting, all my reading lead me to believe this was not a valid option. In any case, I think most people use Subler for creating iTunes compatible files, so this would definitely streamline the process.

As on http://www.mp4ra.org/codecs.html
Code Abstract Stream type (handler) Defined in/by ObjectType
dtsc DTS Coherent Acoustics audio Audio DTS 0xA9
dtse DTS Express low bit rate audio, also known as DTS LBR Audio DTS 0xAC
dtsh DTS-HD High Resolution Audio Audio DTS 0xAA
dtsl DTS-HD Master Audio Audio DTS 0xAB
dts+ Enhancement layer for DTS layered audio Audio DTS
dts- Dependent base layer for DTS layered audio Audio DTS
Anyway iTunes and all Apple Devices can't handle DTS :-(

i use DTS passthrough + AAC all the time, but for it to work, you have manually open the file and tell Subler to do it, Subler already has an option in prefs to do AC3 Passthrough +AAC automatically, could we have an option to do this for DTS.
and whilst you are at it could you add support for Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3), and Dolby True HD with same passthrough + AAC options ?
Andy.

I'm also waiting for the option to do "DTS Passthru + AAC" automaticaly. (or activate the Passthru + ACC feature as standard in batch mode) Picking up subtitles, that are saved next to video with language code ('VideoName'.en/.nl./.fr/.de/...), and adding them automatically to your file would also be a nice feature.
These are the settings I'd like set as standard for batch mode :

The "DTS Passthu + AAC" is available in the current Version 1.0.1 ;)

I convert mkv-s for apple tv and itunes and mobil use. Without this option the provided m4v won't compatible with those "native" players. I use ffmpeg to batch convert mkv to untagged m4v and use subler to tag it but ffmpeg m4v creation is very buggy and unreliable. So it would be a welcome to have a DTS -> AC3 + AAC option.

Any updates on this? This is really the biggest elephant in the room missing feature to Subler. So many files and discs come with DTS audio and most mainstream devices will not playback DTS audio in an MP4/M4V container, nor passthrough DTS audio to a device capable of playing it. I'm sure I'm not alone in that using Subler involves the use of a companion app like ffmpeg or MP4Tools to accomplish DTS to AC3 conversion. It's just a pain, I beg you for this! Nagging aside. Thank you for all the hard work on Subler, there's nothing quite like and has been one of the most useful programs I've come across over the years.

If anyone is interested, there appears to be a coded script to do this task. https://github.com/JakeWharton/mkvdts2ac3

Conversion to ac-3 has been added by Brian Gerfort in a872eda , so after some quick tests it will be in the next version.

!!!!!! Thank you a872eda. Subler is close to perfect now.

DTS Audio Tracks within an MP4 container are a technically valid option and even ISO compliant. However there are not a lot of players which support it. So I guess this feature request makes sense.
