If TV series name has year in it, iTunes metadata search returns zero results
Issue #443
closed
Let's say a file is named Series (2013) - S01E01.m4v. If you add this file to the auto queue, or open this file directly in Subler and attempt to run an iTunes metadata search on it, you will not get any results. However, if you delete the (2013) in the search box, you will get results.

I tried to trace the issue back by building Subler and debugging, but failed when trying to build the required library.

repo owner The results in the drop menu always come from thetvdb. The iTunes Store service is an hack anyway, iTunes doesn't have a good api to get the metadata from the store. The search results are a bit wonky. I'll try to see why it doesn't find that tv show.

"Genius :Einstein" will show the results in the next Subler release.

I think I am running into the similar issue with Genius: Einstein (2017) from National Geographic. I have tried to match the metadata in Subler using the iTunes Store engine, searching with keywords Genius, Genius Einstein, Genius 2017, or Einstein, but Subler just cannot find the match for this National Geographic TV series.
Interestingly, when I search with the keyword Genius, the drop menu has this TV show as Genius (2017) included, which I think should be the right match. However, Subler still does not find the match in iTunes Store database...
