iTunes metadata

Issue #459 new
Ali created an issue

First of all thanks for the great app that I've been using for a long time and it's a critical part of media organization.

I prefer using iTunes metadata as all my devices are Apple. However, there is one issue (for me) that could be improved and enhanced. If a movie or TV show has several genres, iTunes style of separating them is using "&". The issue is when using &, other application (Plex for example) is going to treat is as one genre. But when separated with comma, they will be treated as separate genres.

For example, if a movie have Action and Drama, and the metadata have been pulled from iTunes, they will be represented as "Action & Drama" which will be treated as one genre. But with using comma, those genres will be more universal to be used in the majority of apps as 2 genres.

One extra thing and not sure if its possible, if I have already optimized media and changed one of the metadata field, the optimization will be removed. Is it possible to amend metadata and keep the optimization?

I think you might be able to have this as a preference. That way you can run some code to strip the '&' and replace with ' , ' on the genre field.
