Making changes only to metadata

This is a replica question that was asked by another member in Jan 2018 but the issue was seemingly closed without an answer.

Is it possible to use Subler only to add/edit metadata? I don't want to convert or down mix any video.

If I open a video and make changes to the metadata and then save the file, does it convert the video in any way?

Subler does not convert anything if you just open a mp4. It converts things only when you import a file (in the import windows it will let you select the preferred conversion), or when using the queue to import a non mp4 file.
