Audio/Video sync issue on Plex using recent Subler releases.

Issue #493 duplicate
Derek created an issue

Over the past few months I've noticed the audio is out of sync with the video on downloaded files. Let me explain....

I'm currently using the latest public release of Subler (1.5.7).

I use Apple's Home Sharing via iTunes to access my media throughout the house. I have an Apple TV 4th Gen and 5th Gen for playback. I recently start using an Nvidia Shield for passthrough audio on movies and to test how Android itself goes. I also run a Plex media server for when I'm outside of my home network, this is also shared with a few family members. When I use Subler to attach metadata for my iTunes library I then allow Plex to read those files and add them to the Plex server. All was going well until sometime this year, or I just never noticed. When playing these files back through Plex for Android (local and remote) the audio is out of sync. I can play these files back without issue through my computer however the audio issue occurs across both Apple Tv's albeit a slight delay. Plex is way out of sync. I tried to resolve this by stripping the subs and/or chapters to no avail. I rolled back the Plex app to an earlier build however the issue persists. I decided to run an old version of Subler (1.4.6) and voila the issue is resolved. The video files used are downloaded as .mkv with either DD5.1 or DD+5.1.

I'm hoping I can keep using a new version of Subler and wanted to report this bug.

Thanks for reading.

UPDATE

I've downloaded previous versions of Subler and can confirm the issue is present in all 1.5.XX releases.

There were some changes to improve AAC audio sync, but it was before 1.4.6. Are you converting the tracks to AAC of playing back DD? Is it out of sync even on QuickTime Player?

Audio is in sync with playback on macOS mojave through iTunes, Plex, QuickTime etc. the issue is when they are played on Apple TV (Home Sharing, Plex, Infuse) and NVidia Shield. I have an .mkv which I open with Subler. This file contains DD+ 5.1 and I output with passthrough and AAC. Even if I don’t create the AAC and simply passthrough the DD+5.1 the issue appears. This is only replicated in the 1.5.X releases. I’ve tried all of them.

Try to make a file with only AAC and another one with only DD and check what happens.

sorry for the delay in completing this task. I can confirm the issue is still present with the files containing only AAC and AC3. On my Apple TV it is only slightly noticeable but when Plex for Android, MrMc or VLC play these files the audio is way out of sync, maybe 2-3 seconds. These players have no issue with the original file, just the ones any Subler 1.5xx outputs.

Please send me one of those mkv files to damiog at gmail.com, so I can check exactly what changed.
