Feature Request: Auto-fill HD Video tag

Issue #520 new
Dru Kepple created an issue

I’ve noticed that when I use the “search metadata” feature, the HD Video tag gets populated as well, and my assumption is that this isn’t metadata that TheMovieDB supplies, as it’s file metadata, not movie metadata, but still, Subler seems to “intuit” the HD Video tag and correctly supplies it based on the video file (i.e., I get 720 or 1080, depending on the actual video attributes of the file)

However, if I manually add the HD Video tag, it defaults to “no.” It would be a few less clicks if, when adding the tag manually, Subler did the same thing to “intuit” the value. It might even be nice to have a preference to always automatically add said tag.

This may be getting into a bit of an edge case, but I’ve also found if I import metadata from another mp4 (…so I’m re-ripping movies and encoding with h265 as I go…I’ve found it easy to just drag the old h264 movie into the newly encoded one, don’t import any tracks but import the metadata…), that the HD Video tag comes along with it. There are times when I originally encoded at 720p but am now encoding at 1080p. So now I have to change it; it’s not terrible but I guess I can’t see why you’d ever want to set the HD Video tag to something other than what the video file is.

I’m on Subler 1.5.14 and macOS 10.14.4

Thanks for your consideration
