macOS Catalina: New wide-style artwork in Apple TV app (formerly iTunes)
Running the latest available Subler at the time of this writing (1.5.16), and macOS “Catalina” (10.15) Beta 1. Yes, I’m aware that this is pre-release software, and I don’t expect this to be working already as the beta just came out.
The new Apple TV app (which was broken out from iTunes in macOS Catalina) uses a different artwork style (and likely, atom) than iTunes did. I refer to the new artwork style as the “chiclet” style which you tend to see in the iTunes Movie/TV Stores.
In the “overview” screen, the TV shows downloaded from iTunes contain this new artwork style (which I assume, but cannot confirm, is stored in a different atom than the older artwork).
In the “show all episodes” screen, it appears to be looking for the same new artwork:
However, when choosing “Get Info” for a particular piece of content, the standard iTunes embedded artwork is still there.
As such, this is a feature request to add support for the new artwork style (atom, mostly).

repo owner Beta 2 fixed the artwork display. Probably now you need only to find a artwork in the right size.
-
Integration in Subler would be amazing! In the meantime, you can find the artwork in the 16:9 aspect ratio on this website.
-
repo owner Oh they are finally available on the iTunes Store api, good to know, I will add them next week.
-
repo owner Actually it seems he reversed engineered it, but didn’t make his findings public.
-
His reverse engineering relies on the user’s computer, so I suspect a look at the web inspector couldn’t hurt.

Try this link:
Don’t ask what are the parameters, and more importantly, it is undocumented and expect to broke when apple change it

Or we can pull artwork like this guy does…

Is there a way to get it coded in to Subler to pull images from here?

TMDB has the capability to have a Show back drop, but it doesn’t have the capability to have seasonal back drops. That’s another option, to be pulling images from the back drops on TMDB.
-
repo owner I’ve got it working, but it needs still a bit of work.
-
repo owner 1.5.22 has some limited support for iTunes artworks when you get metadata from iTunes Store.
-
I’ve noticed that the iTV is still showing the artwork as square for the show top image, but the 16x9 is coming up fine for the individual files. Without downloading a show from iTunes to validate, it seems it may have two image sizes it pulls from to fill these spots.

repo owner - changed status to resolved
The next version will include a way to get metadata from Apple TV web api. I don’t know how long it will work, but it’s all I can do.

The Apple TV app is quite buggy right now. You should report all the issues you find to Apple. I don’t know if there is a new atom for the artwork, of you just have to put an artwork like that in the file, the app is broken and doesn’t load artworks from the files eh.
Try to open one of the download file is Subler and see what’s in there.
