Imported Hebrew .srt, selected Hebrew encoding but shows Russian at playback

Issue #536 closed

I downloaded a Hebrew .srt file from opensubtitles.org and added it to Subler, selected Hebrew encoding in the dropdown menu. I also added English subtitle and imported Movie details and artwork from iTunes and then sent to the queue for processing. After it’s all done, I played it back with English subtitles, all is good. However, when I switched to Hebrew subtitles, it showed with Russian encoding, not Hebrew encoding. I loaded the movie in VLC to make sure the Hebrew .srt is actually in Hebrew, I opened the original Hebrew .srt file that I downloaded, VLC player showed the subtitles correctly with Hebrew encoding. See screenshots below. So for some reason Subler did not export the correct language encoding information when multiplexing all files.

Loaded the movie in VLC and selected the Hebrew subtitle track:

This screenshot below is when I opened at an external Hebrew .srt file (the same one when I imported it in Subler). This is how it should look:

OS: Mac OS X High Sierra 10.13.6

Subler Version: 1.5.16

Attached is the Hebrew .srt.

Subler can’t guess the right text encoding on that file. You should try to convert it to UTF-8 or UTF-16 with another text editor first.
