Forced subtitles (marked with !!! in a regular subtitle track) don't show up
I just saw that all the formatting of issue #60 has been messed-up when submitting it. So I create a new one, more clear. You can delete the #60.
My issue concerns the forced subtitles.
I want to have the regular and forced ones in a single files. With the forced ones marked with "!!!" as explained in the wiki page.
I succesfully converted (with OCR subler feature) VobSub into Tx3g.
Then, I exported the file to update it with a text editor.
I marked some lines as "forced" like explained in the wiki. Here's an extract from my edited file:
8 00:01:00,240 --> 00:01:03,516 le Dieu Dragon,
9 00:01:04,120 --> 00:01:10,389 qui exaucerait alors un unique souhait, quel qu'il fût.
10 00:01:47,600 --> 00:01:49,909 !!! La légende de Shenron
11 00:01:50,040 --> 00:01:53,350 !!! Attrapons-les ! Les Dragon Ball !
When I'm importing the file in Subler, by default, the "forced" option is set to "some samples are forced". Which is good sign since when I upload a file without forced marks, the default value for option "forced" is "no".
I save the file and play it in QuickTime.
The issue is that the forced subtitles don't show up automatically.
What I tried: - Set the option to "all samples are forced", the subtitle track is not visible in QuickTime, but every sub of the file is displayed automatically without having the possibility to disable it. --> OK. - I tried to link my sub track to all audio track but it does not change anything. By the way, what's the purpose of doing this ? It's not clear for me...

Dear Damiano,
Thanks for the sample and the useful links.
I read the QT doc and I realize how good is your software. You just implemented a simple and intuitive interface on the QT stuff. Well done man !
Now that I master (after struggling for some days/weeks) how subtitles works in Subler, I'll write a wiki for all other users.
NB: My error was to make the subtitle track pointing to itself...

FYI, I wrote a wiki to document all information I gathered about subtitles and Subler. wiki

@galad87 : I have a doubt. When I extract my movie in HandBrake, I keep the soft subtitles. If in a regular track, I've forced ones, will Subler keep these flags when converting them in Tx3g (by appending "!!!" at the end of the line) ?
I asked that because with the test I did, I did not manage to keep from the VobSub the !!! marker...

repo owner It should. But maybe there is a bug. Do you have a sample I can test?

Hi, I'll retry with a video I'm 100% sure it contains forced subs in the reg track. If the problem is present, I'll send you the sample.

Actually I don't remember too well how it works… there should be a detailed description in the quicktime file format specifications.
But I think you should set in the audio track the "subtitles" reference, so it know what's the track that contains the forced subtitles.
Here's a working sample: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gpp5ptjgvpkv684/Test.m4v?dl=0
