Added Subtitles Appear Doubled on Screen

Issue #634 resolved
Jay McGuire created an issue

I’ve tried adding a .srt file to an existing .mp4 a couple/few times now, and every time I end up getting doubled captions – with a duplicate sentence appearing directly below the first. Exporting the added captions results in a .srt file that actually does have doubled captions inside of it. Am I doing something wrong here?

Captions appear doubled (and rather large) on my Apple TV, and on my Mac (Big Sur) in both the TV app (1.1.2.28) and in QuickTime Player (10.5).

Damiano, yes, I can do that. I’ve now tried with a couple of videos pulled off of YouTube, and in both instances, I’ve ended up with double captions. I’m going to attach a file from a video by Architectural Digest right now.

That file contains the same subtitles line two times. At line 1958 it starts again from the first subtitles line…

Damiano, I’ll be darned, you are correct! It turns out the problem is with the app I used to download the subtitles from YouTube. Consider this problem solved! Thanks so much!

Wondershare UniConverter app is doubling the subtitles during download. Subler is not at fault here.
