[Feature Request] Add Flac as option for transcoding in addition to AAC

Issue #672 new

I was curious if it would be possible to add FLAC as an option for transcoding audio instead of just AAC, as this is now officially supported by Apple. I’m able to convert videos to mp4’s with FLAC in ffmpeg and they playback perfectly in Quicktime. Would be ideal as there would be no quality loss when converting from lossless DTS-HD or TrueHD tracks.

Thanks for all the work you put into Subler as well! Been using it very frequently to play videos locally on my Macbook and its the only solution I’ve found that supports Dolby Vision and EAC3+Atmos.

“2.5. Supported multichannel audio formats are:

  • AAC-LC
  • HE-AAC v1
  • Apple Lossless
  • FLAC
  • Dolby Digital (AC-3)
  • Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC-3)
  • Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos”

How can this topic not find supporters. I don't understand. FLAC or ALAC would be very good. It doesn't matter which. I don't understand why this isn't being worked on. There's not even an answer.
