[Feature request / bug] Allow setting "Automatically Add To iTunes/TV" as output folder

Issue #709 new

Hi there,

First of all, thanks for developing and maintaining this excellent app! I’ve been using it for over a year and have found it to be an invaluable tool for working with media in the Apple ecosystem.

The problem I’m hoping to solve is this: I’d like Subler to send converted media to the TV app automatically after conversion, and then have TV move the file into its own library. This would be possible by setting the output folder to “Automatically add to TV”, except that the TV app can’t tell whether an m4v is finished converting or not and just repeatedly tries to add the mid-conversion file until it succeeds. This often results in incomplete conversions getting added to the library (e.g. files that stop playback halfway through), so it’s not currently a workable solution.

Would it be possible to add a temporary ‘.part’ suffix to mid-conversion files that gets removed when conversion is complete (similar to how most browsers handle downloads), as a workaround for this? That would make my Subler-to-TV workflow a lot smoother, and would also make it easier to tell files with interrupted conversions apart from successfully converted ones.

My media server is running macOS Monterey 12.6.1 and Subler 1.7.3.

Thanks in advance!
