In ATLAS there are lots of objects whose first detection is near the outside the detection cluster. It would be great if we could:
- Do a one-off recentre of the object based on mean ra and dec.
- Merge multiple objects that are in fact the same object.
The merge is a non-trivial operation. E.g. Which object ID do we use for the final object? Which ATLAS name do we use for the final object?
In the merge, I would intend to use the detection nearest the mean RA and Dec as the centre detection. In which case the last 2 digits of the ID should be used to indicate that it has been altered. Maybe? But if you already have the URL of the object, this would change it.
