It would be great to create packages for popular Linux distributions, so Linux users don't have to compile the game.

Debian packages are ready. Maybe in the future there will be packages for other popular Linux distributions.

It would be more consistent with both Debian and Ubuntu to install game related files to

/usr/share/games/ja2

instead of /usr/share/ja2

I can help with packaging to Linux with CMake/CPack buildsystem, which already supports deb, rpm and tgz formats.
