RefSeq database computational requirements

Issue #17 new
Former user created an issue

Hello,

I wanted to know about how much memory I should expect to use if I wanted to use RefSeq as the database to index? I have not seen much information about computational requirements to use KMA. Any information on this would be very helpful.

Thank you.

As a rule of thumb, KMA will use memory approx. equal to the size of the *.comp.b index file, as this will be loaded into memory on startup. If you add a few GB to that you should be safe with the refseq DB, assuming you use the “-mem_mode” flag (recommended for large DBs).

    Best,
