Jira Ticket checks not working

Hi Team,

We are trying to ensure that no commit is committed without Jira issue in the commit message however it is not working. Other three validations under Jira ticket issues are also not working. we would like to purchase it soon provided it works for the above mentioned issues.

1.) Are you on Bitbucket Cloud or Bitbucket Data Center ?

2.) If you are on Bitbucket Data Center, what version of Control-Freak and what version of Bitbucket Data Center are you on? (Note: Cloud is always the same version for everyone, so need to tell us what version if you are Cloud).

I will create a video to show you how the Jira Checks feature in Control Freak on Bitbucket Cloud works. That video will be ready in about 24 hours from now.

We can also do a call next week, but I would prefer to share the video first (completing a video was on my to do list for this week already!).

Note: Control Freak’s controls (in Cloud) are based on Pull Request “Tasks”, and for that reason it works best with Bitbucket Premium (since you can make “Complete All Tasks” mandatory on PR merges in Bitbucket Premium).

Quick summary:

Control Freak for Bitbucket Cloud is based on the “Pull Request Tasks” feature. It auto-generates tasks for each pull-request based on configured policy.

You can trigger a Control-Freak “recheck” at any time by clicking on the “…” (three dot) icon around the top-right of the screen on any given pull request:

NOTE: That means it’s probably best to set the following (in Bitbucket’s own native settings):

[Repository] → Repository Settings → Branch Restrictions → Merge Settings (Tab):

[x] - No unresolved pull request tasks

[x] - Prevent a merge with unresolved merge checks

We are looking to block commits that do not contain JIRA ticket references at the commit stage itself, before a pull request is created. I wanted to check if the Control Freak Plugin can help us achieve this functionality.

Last time we researched this issue (1 year ago) we determined that blocking pushes in Bitbucket Cloud was impossible for plugins/apps. Let me re-analyze this situation and get back to you.

(Blocking pushes in Bitbucket Data Center is possible and is a large part of what Control-Freak does in that environment).

is it possible to allow commits based on certain statuses in Jira Issues. This option is Available in Control Freak Cloud Plugin, But does not seems to Work.

Hi Abhishek,

With Bitbucket Cloud it really does not look like any interception / blocking of direct pushes is possible (for plugins/apps). Only native features to Bitbucket Cloud can be used to block direct pushes. I will prepare a document/report about these findings.
