Issue #3 resolved

can't see the output,bug in gap-process.el, emacs 24.2.1 / gap 4.5.6

Anonymous created an issue

I cant see the output of my command in gap-process buffer. gap> 1+1; gap> 2+3;

Interestingly, the output-filter somehow eats the result. Emacs 24.2.1 / Gap 4.5.6

Thanks, evrim.

    Thanks for reporting this.

    Does this happen every time you run GAP, or only after you have been working for a while? I haven't been able to reproduce this (OS X 10.8.2, Emacs 24.1.1, GAP 4.5.6), although sometimes I have problems where it gets stuck in "help mode". I haven't figured out how to reproduce it reliably, but if you ask for help about something else you can often get out of it that way.

    When it is in such a situation, could you please run (e.g. via M-:)

     (process-filter (get-buffer-process gap-process-buffer))

    to see which process filter is in effect.

    Also, what do you have in your .emacs, or even better can you reproduce it with emacs -Q? It might also help to know what operating system you are on.

    I can now reproduce this running the GAP included with Sage as sage --gap. Is that how you see it? I'll try to debug it as soon as I can.

    I found that if I disabled readline support in GAP (by sending -E on the command line) that fixed it. Please confirm whether or not this fixes the problem for you.
