Enhancement: arbitrary theta grid size with numerical equilibria
Issue #101
resolved
For numerical equilibria (well, TRANSP
and CHEASE
at least), the theta grid size is dictated by that of the equilibrium data file; ntheta
in the input file is ignored. It would be better if we could set ntheta
in the input file and down-sample / interpolate as required.

reporter Fair enough. I don’t know enough about how geometry works to comment any further on that. This issue is mainly just a placeholder so that someone remembers to do something at some point.

Mostly resolved in 8.1 with introduction of ntheta_geometry input

I think a more general enhancement is to decouple the number of theta grid points used in the geometry calculations and that used in the rest of the code.
