./build_gs2 script

The build_gs2 script needs a little love and attention. There are a few issues with it, like:

• incorrect info in help
• doesn't print long help
• is not written in python...

So:

• Does anyone build using ./build_gs2?
• Should we continue to support it?

I don't really use it, although I've experimented with it in the past.

I think we'd be better off migrating some bits related to building the code to makefile targets and anything else we want to keep should have a standalone script in a scripts or tools directory. But as I don't really use this I might not be best places to comment.

I don't mind if the build script gets set aside for a period of time, but the functionality is of value. Traditionally the functionality would come from configure instead of this custom job.
