 h1. About me

My name is Tomasz Stachowiak. I'm a game programmer. I'm mostly interested in the topics of graphics (both real-time and off-line) and game networking (networked physics), though I've been fiddling with other areas as well, such as doing core game engine programming, tools (custom statistical profiler, build tool, graph-based shader editor), GUIs (IM, RM) and various perversions, such as compile-time ray tracing.

+I am currently employed by The Creative Assembly, and work as a graphics programmer on an upcoming console title. Stay tuned, it's going to be shiny! If you'd like to join us, drop me a line; "we're hiring!":http://creative-assembly.com/?p=1316

 h1. About this site

There's a chance this site doesn't work perfectly in your browser. This is because it uses HTML5, CSS level 3 and some JavaScript, which older browsers might not be able to handle. You should be fine with a relatively recent version of Firefox or anything based on WebKit. No Internet Explorer support here, sorry.

-h1. Info
-
-Project 'Boxen' is aiming to be a multi-player first person shooter game involving human characters and vehicles, similar to games of the _Battlefield_ series.
-
-The game's engine is written from scratch in the D programming language. Naturally not all of its wheels are re-invented. Boxen utilizes the *Havok* library for physics, *FMOD* for sound, *OpenGL 3.2* and *CgFX* for graphics and *enet* for a reliable UDP layer. The networking component is based on an "authority scheme":http://gafferongames.com/conferences/migs09/ enabling rich vehicle and kinetic controller dynamics.
-
-The artistic side is covered by my brother, Marcin Stachowiak, who makes awesome low-poly meshes. A gallery of preliminary models can be "viewed here":http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/1267818/1/boxen?h=8e36f1.

-p((. Networked physics on top of *Havok Physics* and new core modules is running fairly well. A simple demo can be "downloaded here":http://bit.ly/c0IlXJ ( { wsad, e, mouse } for controls, only guaranteed to work on Windows with recent GPUs ).

-p((. A simple prototype of networked physics and basic gameplay has been successfully constructed and tested with 7 players scattered around the world. The prototype was based on the *PhysX* engine and a very experimental rendering system. I'm currently working on a "new renderer":../nucleus/, which is also the main topic of my MSc thesis. In parallel, I'm replacing the PhysX-based simulation with Havok which has proven to be much more user friendly so far.

Hello, world! I'm a programmer obsessed with gamedev, particularly one of these twisted souls who enjoy engine programming more than working on the actual games.

-In my spare time I'm working on a team-based multi-player first person shooter game akin to the _Battlefield_ series. More info "here":code/boxen/.

-So far, my largest finished project is "Deadlock":http://deadlock.team0xf.com/, an arena-based multi-player first person shooter done with four friends from "team0xf":http://team0xf.com/.
