Orientation in VR based on a magnetometer - Failure

Issue #16 new

Hello !

I've been using DIY for a long time. I barely mastered this system. It required cooling the hardware, minimizing electromagnetic interference, multiple calibrations. All because of the determination of the HMD orientation through the magnetometer.

In this post I will write only a few words about. As shown by Australia's Zero Latency company, using Ps3 camera, you should determine the orientation with 2 points. They probably had the same problem as DIY VR users based on psmoveservice - drift.

Please write an additional script for FreePie and reprogram somehow PsmoveFreePiebridge to use an additional 1 or 2 points of light for HMD. This will solve all problems with incorrect controller positions, incorrect HMD orientation, for all Riftcat users, PSVR pc and any other VR device under Pc that uses PSMS position tracking.

As I wrote on the PSMS group, it will save this DIY VR system from being forgotten ... in which you have put so much work into it. Both you and users who are getting tired of it today. (not every hardware can be calibrated and cooled, which works only for a specific period of time and requires a return)

In addition, the sensations for the VR game orientations determine the magnetometer ... often cause a feeling of nausea for less resistant people. Therefore, every large VR producer (vive, cv1, psvr) determines the HMD orientation with the help of light.

Please, help us :)

Regards, VR ManiaQ - youtube.
