    ``` Hi. This happened to me while trying the package out, but since no one else could reproduce it (even on another user on the very same machine), I decided to uninstall my whole development environment. Have you got MSVC or Windows SDK installed? ```
    ``` well... I'm not sure if I install visual studio before or after speed crunch, since I just format my computer so yesterday was my install night. so uninstalling it should resolve the problem... but the thing is that I need it, so is it just the order of install between this two soft, so reinstalling vs should solve the problem or is there another solution? ```

    ``` We're also after the cause of the problem here, so we really don't know what causes the conflict here. We just know that SpeedCrunch 0.10.1 was built using MSVC2005 and that the dock windows crash when MSVC2008 is installed on Vista. I'll post the solution if we reach some conclusion. This will probably lead to 0.10.2. ```
    ``` yeah I just reinstall my computer and it's still the same issue, I'd be happy if I can help in anyway for that bug since speedcrunch is almost unusable.. ```

    ``` I really don't have a clue about what's going on here, seriously (Windows is not my
    area at all). All I know is that I had the same problem but it was suddenly fixed after I uninstalled every Windows development tool/library from my system. Since then, my Vista desktop is able to run SpeedCrunch smoothly. But now people report the
    same issue on a clean Vista... I hope someone can help me here. The Windows packager
    can't reproduce this , so that's bad. For a start, can someone perform a backtrace
    and tell in which function the crash occurs? ```
    ``` well the app doesn't crash anymore but that build have some error: 1- it's show the console at the back (so it's not good for a released version) 2- I've this errors in the console: -QAccessibleWidget::rect: This implementation does not support subelements! (ID 3 unknown for QMenuBar) happen when opening any menu -QTextBrowser: No document for file:/E:/djo/Desktop/VS2008Build/books/en/math_index.html that one might be normal since you just send the .exe and not all the file with it

    thanks for you at least it's usable now but it will need a propper release for it (I'M not worried about that thought) ```

    ``` Yes, this specific trunk test build with console was as quick and dirty as ist can get :) The second log message shows me that I forgot to put the docs into the ZIP archive. Next proper release will have the usual quality.
    However, it is great to know that on your two systems the crash does not occur, now.
    VS2008 is the way to go. Thanks for reporting it. ```
    ``` Hi, I am running Windows XP and get the problem described. I have done development work on the computer in the past, but believe most development libraries etc to be removed. Maybe not completely however. The file VS2008Build.zip appears to remove the problem, however obviously this needs a little cleanup as the background console is visible. ```

    ``` Ok, since my VS2008Build.zip from Sep 14, 2008 left so many wishes open, here is another package from trunk (Dec 28, 2008) to test.
    It has following properties: - VS2008 Express (should fix this crash) - Static Qt build with static MS runtimes - Qt 4.5.0 Beta-1 (Instead of Qt 4.4.0. Adds 250 Kb) - Built with the new qmake project (Instead of CMake. With "NaN fix") - Installer built with the updated .iss file ```
    ``` So, you have a crashing bug, that has been reported by 20-odd people (that were motivated and capable of filing a bug report - that probably represents <1% of the people who encountered it.)

    And it hasn't been fixed (or even looked at?) for over three years.

    Perhaps it is time to declare you will not be fixing it, or that SpeedCrunch isn't officially supported on Windows?

    [My story: SpeedCrunch was recommended by a friend in April 2010. I installed it. It immediately crashed. I dutifully filed a report here (because as a developer I understand how valuable bug reports can be), uninstalled it, made a note not to trust my friend's recommendations, and forgot about it. The only reason it is still on my radar is that the bug-system sends me periodical emails to tell me someone else is also having the problem and yet still nothing is being done.] ```

    ``` To author of comment #45: Thanks for you feedback and bug reports, but I don't believe you have read this thread thoroughly, or even noticed its Fixed status. Please check comment #20 and see if it works for you. No, there is no official release that fixes this issue yet. The issue is not even related to SpeedCrunch, but to to the framework it is built upon. We will have an official installer released when we have the time for it. Unfortunately, that's the best we can do in this project that everyone can enjoy for free. ```
    I then downloaded version 0.12 from this thread and it is now working perfectly. Many
    I've looked into this and it appears to be repeatable if out of the box with windows
    8 or 8.1 with a fresh download of speedcrunch IFF you do not set your system user account
    up as a Microsoft online account. If you set you account up online using a MS id it
    seems to work fine.
    As regards post 50, there is no version 0.12 "in this thread". Also, when trying to
    download 0.11 from this page download link windows kicks back a malicious software
    warning and prevents it from running.
