cannot input circumflex symbol (^) with keyboard

Issue #721 closed
Former user created an issue

Hey,

I just noticed that it's not possible to type the ^ (power) symbol. For example if i wanted to type 2^3 i'd hit 2, twice ^ and 3. But no matter how often i hit ^ it won't show up. Copy-pasting it from another application works. I'm able to type the ^ symbol in any other application.

I'm using SpeedCrunch 0.12 (Qt 5.6.2) on 64 Bit Linux (KDE Neon)

    Which keyboard layout are you using on KDE? @fk may be able to help better than me.

    Oh, yeah, I can reproduce this. It may be this Qt Bug.

    @waldemar_isbrecht As a workaround, you can use the "nodeadkeys" variant of the layout (I forgot what it's called in German). For exponentiation, you can also type ** instead.

    I'm not sure if this is something that could be fixed by compiling Qt 5.6 differently. I'll try some things.

    @heldercorreia Why 1.0? I already merged it into branch-0.12 and it's a relatively benign change that I see no reason to delay. Or are we not using milestones in the way I think we are?

    @fk It's just that there won't be a 0.12.1 release. Also, I don't want to delay 1.0 much more.
