Saved session file extension not automatically appended
At least in XFCE4, the extension is not automatically appended when saving a session. When loading, the session is not visible because the file opener is looking for Speedcrunch Session files. I did not find the filename extension when looking through the manual, and am currently unaware of what it is. The extension should be added to the manual.

reporter After adding '.json' to the filename, SpeedCrunch detects the session file without needing to click the dropdown and change 'SpeedCrunch Sessions' to 'All Files'. If 'SpeedCrunch Sessions' could be changed to 'SpeedCrunch Sessions (.json)', that would be less confusing. Thanks, @polwel , for telling me the extension.

That's exactly what it's supposed to be. This is what it looks like on my machine.
This does sound like a Qt issue... Did you use the binaries or build your own?

Also, for the record, the manual does mention that sessions are stored as JSON :)
I agree though that it is easily missed.

reporter I checked again, and yeah, it is stuck in a footnote. I installed speedcrunch using apt-get, so it is the version in the official Debian repositories. This issue is likely because I am using XFCE. Speedcrunch does not suggest a default name when saving the session, and ',json' is not appended to whatever filename is chosen. This problem will be solved if a default name of 'SpeedCrunchSession.json' is suggested when saving.

repo owner Not specific to XFCE. Happens on my Ubuntu as well.

It is working fine on Windows. SpeedCrunch stores sessions as JSON. Is the extension not shown either when loading a session?
