gets very slow with long history - allow limiting history to N entries

As the history grows the app gets slower and slower (even pressing enter has visible delays) and I am forced to clear the entire history in order to make it quick again.

Can we please add an option to automatically wipe old history entries, to limit history to max N entries and/or max D days?

The slowness issue when history grows is probably a separate bug. It shouldn't get slow.
