not working in linuxmint xfce

Hi I downloaded it from software manager on Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela xfce version and when I do a calculation it always throws an error "invalid expression" for sums such as 3-2. When I hit enter or press the equals button it always gives this error. I removed it and reinstalled it but nothing helped. Thanks
