Static binary package for Linux
Issue #99
closed
Originally reported on Google Code with ID 99
Someone in kde-apps.org asked for static binary package (presumeably for
Linux). This package will be then installed via the package manager and/or
unpacked to some directory. It's similar to Opera's static binaries.
Advantage:
* useful for those whose distributions do not have Qt4 yet
* for alpha/beta testers, it can be installed and removed (even locally)
without interfering the official package
Disadvantage:
* the package might be quite big
* might trigger conflict with the official/vendor's binary package
* might not follow system-wide UI style
Another potential solution: use Autopackage. Apparently there was once
Autopackage-d version of Scribus, which proved that it's feasible to
prepare Qt C++ program using Autopackage.

Huh. Didn't know there was a bug report for this. Well, resolved by PR #56.
