Unnecessary changes statistic is broken
I tested this by completing sector 1 without any unnecessary changes, and then did not do anything and waited to game over in sector 2. It still recorded 2 unnecessary changes.
I think either the slider or the dial classes it as an unnecessary change when you switch from "3" to "2" on the way to "1."
For example, if your Fluxionic Stabilizer is set to 5 and you receive the order: "Decrease Fluxionic Stabilizer to 1," in order to follow the instruction you must first complete the 3 unnecessary changes of decreasing the Fluxionic Stabilizer to 4, 3, and 2, and the same works for increasing.
This is a scoreboard statistic, so the game is very much playable without it, but accurate statistics are an important part of the game.
It may be a good idea to disregard unnecessary changes to sliders/dials If the instruction is to manipulate that slider/dial in any way.

Thanks for this report! I'm not convinced that it's the sliders and dials causing it but I'll definitely check it out.
