GitHub Markdown breaks HC notifications

When a pull request, issue, or comment contains headers, blockquotes, or code blocks, the normal "snipping" algorithm that shortens the displayed text does not seem to be operating. Instead, all the line breaks are removed and the markdown-formatted text is displayed, usually resulting in a very large and confusing notification without much useful information.
