Jamulus test server self-check

PLEASE NOTE : the test server mentioned below is no longer running. Our choir has switched over to use jacktrip

Three things to note before we start

1. Use a wired Ethernet connection (not WiFi)
2. Use a wired headset (not Bluetooth)
3. Do NOT use both the computer built-in speaker and built-in microphone at the same time. This will create an audio feedback loop. You must use a headphone.

I will describe three simple tests that you can do to verify that your setup is ready for Jamulus rehearsal. These steps simulate a typical process that you will follow to use Jamulus to join an online rehearsal.

1. Network test: Start Jamulus and connect to a test server name "Hung Le" (IP address: 99.45.169.17).
2. Headphones test: once connected, you should hear Aria singing "Over the Rainbow" (in a repeat loop). There is a pause of a few seconds between repeat. Listen for a few minutes, make sure that the audio quality is good: no feedback, no humming background noise, no crackling noises ...
3. Microphone test: then start singing along with Aria, you should hear yourself along with Aria. Make sure that you don't hear any delay that would cause your singing and Aria singing to be out-of-sync. Tip: you can lower the volume for Aria by dragging down the slider with label "Aria" (the first one that is under "PAN")

If you've successfully completed these 3 steps, you are ready for an online rehearsal using Jamulus.
