Can other project role able to add / disable selection list for project specific field?

Issue #11 resolved

Understanding that, only project admin able to add and delete the selection list on project specific field. Are you plan to add other member in project roles e.g. developer, user role able to add / delete the value from project specific field.

Thanks, Jutamat

Just to clarify: Actually it is not the project admin or project lead, but everybody ho has Administer Project permission in the permission scheme.

I personally would favor to have this as part of the permission scheme, but JIRAs API does not allow to add additional permissions there.

That means, that this permission to manage the Project Specific Select Fields has to be granted on project level, not on permission scheme level. The project admin could delegate this permission to a) one b) project role and this would include permission to manage c) all Project Specific Select Fields of that project.

Could you comment, what you think about a) to c)?

    a) "one" is okay? "one or many" would be much more complicated to implement.

    b) "project role" is okay? Or do you need same flexibility as in permission schemes, so users, groups or project roles?

    c) "all" is okay? Or do you want to grant this permission to a project role only for some of your Project Specific Select Fields? And grant permission different custom fields to different project roles?

Could you also give a little bit background, why this feature is important for you and describe your use case, so that I am sure to fully understand the story?

    Cheers, Holger

Thanks Holger for your prompt, We have using project specific field and this is very useful because in each project they have difference kind of value and we cannot set as global value e.g. Functional, Component, Release version etc. Above request is come from our JIRA user which not project admin but need to modify the list for each project specific field, as the result I dropped this request to you. Sometime project admin is not available.

However after discussing among JIRA Support team this morning, only project admin allow to modify the list is make sense. Otherwise, there are many duplicate or junk list under their project.

Back to your proposal, I would prefer, "Project role" to able to modify the list of project specific (b). Project admin able to configure which project role able to modify the list under project specific field.

Any further information, please let me know. Jutamat.

Your use case is having a substitute for project adim in case of holiday, illness or other kind of unavailability?

Isn't this also true for other things the project admin has permission for like adding components, versions and project role assignment?

Then why not assigning this project role to Administer Permission in permission scheme? Then these project role are able to edit Project Specific Select Field values.

The feature request described at the top is kust nevessary if you want to separate the Administer Project permission from being able to edit Project Specific Select Field values.

Can you discuss this option with your JIRA support admins and users?

Any feedback from your side to this feature request? Did changing the permission scheme solve your problem, so this feature request could be closed?

    Best regards, Holger
