Existing issues needs to updated with a default value for a new Project Specific Select Field.

Currently, we are having Jira Custom field "Organization" single select list and only Jira administrator can able to update the values. But already we are having 1 lakh issues using the field.
Now our new requirement that even though the project administrator needs to update the drop down values, We are planning to leverage Project Specific plugin but we want to know how can we move the data from existing Jira custom field to new project specific field.

Note: Bulk update and Bulk Import is not feasible as we have more than One Lakh Issues. Can you please suggest any other simpler approach.

There is a section “Converting Standard Single and Multi Select Field to Project Specific Select Field” in the documentation https://bitbucket.org/hski/projectspecificselectfield-public/wiki/. That should solve your request if you have SQL access to the underlying database of Jira.
