Problems with Translate (at right click)

Issue #1372 new
Agustin Lobo created an issue

The right panel of Translate Raster Layer lists "Output options" just before "Output raster layer". Actually, there is no "Output options" in the Parameters panel.

Output automatically goes to the QGIS canvas, is this intentional? Instead, the input does not, and the extent " Use Current Map Canvas extent" refers to the QGIS canvas, where the input layer is normally not displayed (hence wrong coordinates are imported). Also, both canvas are not geometrically linked.

No bands are selected by default, I guess it should be the reverse (all bands selected by default)

    Here are the Output Options:

@Benjamin Jakimow , correct me if I’m wrong. AFAIK, we can’t prevent QGIS from opening the algo outputs in the QGIS Layers panel.

Yes, that is not nice. Unfortunately, we can’t change this.

The logic is described in the Docs:

I see, the problem is that this options appears twice in the help panel at the right (it is also just before the last option).

Then make it clear i.e. by changing “Use Current Map Canvas extent" to “Use Current QGIS Map Canvas extent” and, best, make both canvas geometrically linked (if this is possible)

An empty selection defaults to all bands in native order

Don’t tell me this is not a awkward default!! Select nothing to select all??? Is it so hard showing all bands ticked by default?

    Yes, I’ll fix this.

Unfortunately, this widget is controlled by QGIS and we can’t change labels and behaviour.

I agree, you can look at it this way.

Our logic is: if you don’t want to subset bands, you don’t select any bands for subsetting.

I will think about it, currently I like it better as is, maybe that will change in the future. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.
