I have been using magic lantern for my 550d for a lot of months now and have been continuously updating it.
I have two SD cards and I had magic lantern on one of them. When I wanted to use magic lantern I would use one card or otherwise I would use the other card. Things worked perfectly.
Now I figured out I could not boot magic lantern by holding the set button while booting so I decided to install it on the other card too.
For this I followed only step to of the instructions. I did a low level format using camera, copied the files and then did a firmware update in camera. I got nice green confirmation message.
However on the reboot the camera did not start. I did switch it off but did not take out the battery in time. Later I took out the battery.
- Since then the camera sometimes boots up when there is no card in camera.
- The camera once did boot with my old magic lantern SD card.
- The camera never boots with the SD card in which I installed it recently.
- The camera did not boot up with a third SD card which does not have magic lantern too.
My camera does not seem to be bricked since it does come alive once a while.
Is there any way I can remove magic lantern from my cards without using my camera on only from my pc?
If I give my camera to Canon service will they figure out I have used magic lantern? Is my warranty void?
