500d FPS indicator

Issue #1066 open
ats1995 created an issue

The FPS-indicator shows 30fps in both PAL and NTSC, and with FPS-override enabled(That is in 720p). In 1080p it is showing 20fps in both 720p and 1080p, as expected. It still says 20fps when FPS-override enabled.

In 720p: In PAL it should say 25fps, and with FPS-override it should say whatever fps selected in ML.

In 1080p: Everything is fine, exept from when enableing FPS-override. Whatever value selected there will not affect the indicator. It is constant at 20fps

Even if you select lower fps?

On the other issues related to FPS in 500D, the users confirmed it's working...

It is not working now. That is all I know :/

And one other minor thing, too minor to make a new issue of: when toggling screen layouts, all buttons toggles the same way. Let's say that I'm using "4:3 Movie, t/b", and want to use "Under 16/9, bottom", I have to go all the way around and go trough all the other ones. When pressing the Zoom-button and using the arrows, both left and right arrows toggles the same way. I bet you get it :P

Haha, I reread #5, and toggling screen layouts are working as supposed to. The FPS indicator, however, does not show different values in NTSC and PAL. Issue is still valid in 15th may version.

Where should this message appear? I see no sign of it.

Sidetrack: why is this .bin file only one 6th of the size compared to the 15th May?

  6. Alex

Um.. in the middle of the screen, when FPS override is enabled. Try zooming in and out to refresh FPS - it should display the message.

The bin is only for 500D.

Got it! It only shows when changing FPS override values, though. Then it shows PAL:1 for PAL and PAL:0 for NTSC, as you said.

  8. Alex

Then, you get the exact same FPS values in both modes?

In NTSC you should get 23.976. Optimize for something else than exact FPS.

  9. ats1995 reporter

Yep, I get the same exact FPS in both modes. (Vertifying...)

23.976? The 500d does not have 24 fprs natively...

Nope, with FPS-override set to 24 fps I get 24.004 in PAL and 24.029 in NTSC

Update: I don't know what I meant with "Nope, ...", but ML does recognize PAL vs NTSC, and there is a difference between them when FPS override is used. Hope that clear things up a bit, if necessary.
