Force aperture and focal length

Issue #1125 wontfix
Former user created an issue

Ok so here is the problem. I have a bunch of these samyang lenses and they don't have chips in the lenses. I want to force the camera to see the lens how I want it to see it so I can do an AF confirm with the camera. Obviously in movie mode I can do a AF confirm with the green AF confirm bars.

Don't know how hard it would be to set that code but it would save a lot troubles for those of us who have manual lenses.

Best Regards, Robert

as always I enjoyed being one of the first testers of the 60D and a strong advocate for the ML revolution :)

Forgot to add I would like to force the camera to see the focal length and the aperture. for example tell the camera it is a 35mm at f1.4.

I was talking to alex and he said that he tried but had no luck. I have these AF chips and I really think there is some method to the madness here if there is a way to see the code in action like a before and after read from the camera while using the af chips. I wonder if any one knows how to get in contact with one of these af chip maker guys to see what they do to set the code. any who I would really appreciate it if some one can take on the task of manipulating the aperture and focal length. this could really change how we deal with working with old lenses or lenses that don't have aperture and focal length eos chips.
