I noticed that my 50D's batteries (different models and age) discharged very quickly also when the camera was turned off. This happened with different lenses mounted, all with stabilization and autofocus turned off. I took note of all combination of batteries and lenses and it happened indipentently from these factors. Sometimes the battery drain happened in one night from 100% to 10% of charge with all turned off. So I tried to uninstall ML from CF card and now battery life is normal (3 days of shooting).
