Real-time image stabilization

Issue #475 wontfix

This would probably be too hard to implement and too slow, but some crude form of (digital) image stabilization would be very helpful with non-IS MF lenses.

I'm sorry, I think I didn't give enough details; I was referring to Live View, where camera shake can make focusing hard. This would be useful when taking pictures without a tripod, but it is indeed pointless to do it for movies when much better offline solutions exist.

With LiveView, you might try Trap Focus in LiveView. Theory: when it's stable, it's not blurred. Not sure if it works at all (maybe only in low light), but please post your findings.

60D has a leveling sensor, which could be used for seeing when camera shake occurs, but it is for roll axis only. Camera shake is caused mostly by pitch and yaw rotation...

I don't think that trap focus will help too much, since something else might be in focus, but not what you want.
