There is no way to escape % character in the ini file

The ConfigParser.InterpolationMissingOptionError is raised.

Since ConfigParser is used, the common %% escaping method doesn't work. SafeConfigParser should be used to allow escaping, but it's a main change. Maybe looking for a turnaround when encoutering this specific error should be a better idea.

    I guess a lame hack would be to provide a standard variable "percent" such that you could put in %(percent)s when you really need a percent.

    Terrible and lazy, but at least this wouldn't be impossible then. I'm surprised %% isn't allowed though.
