Possible performance impact

I notice an increased stuttering after installing this and running around for a bit. It's most noticeable when riding the lift between Firelink and Undead Parrish for me. I get 3-4 slight screen pauses per up or down, vs. none without DSPW. Otherwise moving around has those, too, just less pronounced, but enough to be annoying after a while.

Also, it seems to get better (less stutters) when I set fps cap at 30fps instead of 60fps via DSfix. I've tried installing/uninstalling DSPW several times to confirm the issue.

Anyway, this issue is probably hard to reproduce and to fix since it might depend on the system. I'm just putting it here hoping for a possible soft solution to alleviate it. Other than, say, buying a SSD.

I had the same issue, but the culprit turned out to be hi-res textures — are you using any in tex_override?

Sadly, no. My computer isn't very powerful so I never put anything extra, even AA is off in DSfix. More importantly, the stutters are gone completely when I remove DSPW. But they are back when I put DSPW files back in. I've tried that several times to make sure.

Also, the stutters seem to happen at an interval, if that makes any sense.

Weird — I'll look into it. Did you notice any significant overhead in CPU usage?

No, CPU usage hovers around 32%-36% with or without DSPW.

Still looking for the culprit. CPU overhead on test subjects rarely reaches 2%.
