Digitizing in ZoomView

Issue #5 resolved
Former user created an issue

I am digitizing points for sampling purposes. For this, ZoomView is extremely helpful as I don't need to zoom in and out all the times!

However, digitizing in the ZoomView window is a bit counterintuitive.

I observe following behaviour with active "add point feature" 1) I click on the desired location in the ZoomWindow (left click). Lets assume this point is 30m right of the center point. 2) The ZoomWindow pans to this point 3) a point is created 30m right of the point I actually wanted to digitize.

My current workaround is: 1) I click on the desired location in the ZoomWindow (right click). 2) The ZoomWindow pans to this point 3) I click on the center point (as accurate as I manage) 4) the ZoomWindow pans to this point 5) a point is created close to the point I wanted to digitize

It would be nice if there would be a convenient way to trigger the digitizing of a point. E.g. a shortcut could be used to set a point at the center. Or the ZoomWindow could recognize that "digitizing is active", and doesn't pan on left click.

Cheers, David

    Like discussed, I will…

    1. try to fix the issue with the displacement that occures when creating a new point.
    2. include 4 checkboxes, where the user can exactly define when to center zoom canvas: i) left click in map canvas, ii) right click in map canvas, iii) left click in zoom canvas or iv) right click in zoom canvas (not sure if we really need this, let’s skip it for now)
