Rom Library File/Folder Management

Issue #1074 invalid

I'd like to make a suggestion/feature request to how LaunchBox organizes images and metadata (or just the ability to use this method as an option). Currently, from what I can tell it appears that LaunchBox organizes metadata and images in their own separate directories within the LaunchBox directory. I would like to suggest the ability to save images and metadata into the folders where the rom files are themselves. To clarify for example, my HTPC uses BigBox as the primary gaming frontend and Kodi as the primary media frontend. My Kodi library has files organized like this:

Movies/

+--Movie Name (YEAR)/

+--+--Movie Name (YEAR).mp4

+--+--Movie Name (YEAR).nfo

+--+--banner.png

+--+--clearart.png

+--+--disc.png

+--+--fanart.png

+--+--logo.png

+--+--poster.png

+--+--thumb.png

(Pardon the formatting, it's the best I could come up with without being able to use a monospace font or formatting in the submission editor)

I have maintained my library in this fashion for a long time because once it is organized in this fashion, it requires very little maintainence, even when I serve it over the network to multiple devices, or migrate the library to a different computer/server/Kodi install. If there was the ability in LaunchBox to create such folder structures (preferably in a configurable location so it could be stored on alternate/external/network drives) it means that the library could likewise be migrated between computers/versions or hosted from a networked server (if a user could solve the latency issue) and there would be no necessity to re-download data. Plus as an added bonus, if the uniformity was maintained, LaunchBox could (I would assume easily) be made to scan for new entries in the library and attach metadata to them as well with minimal user effort.

You can change the locations of where all of the images for every category by every system if you go ti Tools -> Manage Platforms.

Since this is pretty much what you are asking for I am gonna go ahead and close this. If I am wrong or you want to amend your ticket please feel free to ask!
