Spacing control by platfrom

Issue #1092 new

I just got the latest beta and I like all the options for images. Really I like pretty much everything about LB, but there is one thing that I would like to get if it would be possible, and that is spacing/aspect ratio control by platform.

This would let you optimize the display for image sets with different aspect ratios. For example, the typical image for a Windows game would be in something like a 0.7 aspect ratio. But typical images like carts for N64 and such are much shorter in relation to their width. Therefore, there is a big gaping space between the rows for those views.

The attached 3 files should show it.

nb windows shows the view for Windows game tweaked with nice spacing.

nb64 shows how there are large gaps between rows with that type of image. There is no way of shrinking those gaps without goofing up the Windows view, where you will now get excess space between each graphic.

One way to deal with it now in the settings is to set the AR to 1, then it will be in the middle ground, which looks OK but isn't ideal because it still puts too much excess space between images in all views.

Another way to deal with it is to unify all of the graphics for every platform to one platform. The lb arcade view shows how I have done this by creating new graphics for the MAME game in the same 0.7 AR as the Windows games. That is the tactic I am working on now for all of the cart games, it just isn't particularly easy because all of the existing graphics are in the shorter and wider AR.

Of course if the AR could be set for each platform type, that would take care of it.

Just an idea! Its certainly not a big thing one way or the other.

I would love to have per platform visual settings in LB, spacing, font, etc but more importantly, spacing.
