Renaming Rom files

Issue #1305 new
Former user created an issue

Requested feature in future versions of Launchbox is for the ability to rename rom files.

For example if i added a rom file that had incorrect spelling and launchbox found and downloaded the content, it should then rename that rom file to match as well.

This would also make things much easier if in the future you had to reinstall launchbox and had re-add all rom files, then it will recognize and download metadata and images straight away, instead of manually going through games that it didn't find and having to edit and finding the correct name in the database etc

I would want this to be optional though.

There are several titles I have where the files are named "Game X (extra detail)" where I would need that info when viewing it in the folder, but specifically put the (extra detail) in () so it wouldn't show on the title.

I'll second that! When I imported all my roms from my long ago aquired and curated collection I renamed several of them to easily find and identify them like NES Batman the Videogame, Batman Returns and Batman Return of the Joker I have them with much simpler names that LaunchBox didn't scrape correctly so after importing all my consoles I spent a few hours editing each game it didn't get propper if any metadata and images. This happened also with some differences between US, Europe and Japan game titles of the same game, etc. So It would be nice to have a nice little wizard to help me rename the ROMs to match the game title but that it allows me to choose which to change because of different versions of games and hacks. Thank you for the already awesome frontend! I really appreciate and commmend your effort!
